Wellness exams at Kedron Valley Veterinary HospitalLike humans, pets need yearly physical exams.

Annual exams are essential to maintain your pet’s health and longevity, providing your veterinarian with patient history and the ability to notice changes in weight, appearance, behavior, dental health, and overall physical condition.

During a routine exam, your veterinarian will examine your pet thoroughly, from eyes and ears, heart and lungs to running their hands along the body, checking for signs of discomfort. They will ask about diet, exercise levels and behavior. Our veterinarians encourage discussion and questions during your visit, allowing them to really “get to know” the patient. Remember, the only silly question is the one you did not ask!

The veterinarian or technician will discuss the vaccinations your pet requires. As the number of disease strains increase, our team diligently follows changes and advances in vaccination protocols. During the annual exam, our veterinarians will offer the best options for your pet’s lifestyle. A current rabies vaccination is required by law.

An annual fecal exam, to check for intestinal parasites, is strongly recommended and easy to obtain. Yearly blood tests alert your veterinarian to any underlying disease.

As your pet ages, yearly exams become very important. More extensive blood work can help your veterinarian diagnose and treat any underlying health threats that become more common with advanced age.
